The top coronavirus disease (COVID-19) expert in Beijing said that the pandemic will get worse in the rest of the world except China, Daily Mirror reported.

Dr Zhong Nanshan, the lead expert appointed for the fight against COVID-19, said that many countries have already experienced a second wave of the virus, especially as the winter approaches.

However, he stressed that this new round of outbreak is ‘very unlikely’ to happen in China because it has a ‘complete set of defense and control mechanisms’ against the virus.’

This, despite new cases being reported in Xinjiang province, where nearly 200 people have been infected with COVID-19, according to Daily Mirror.
