Chaired by Vice President and Prime Minster of the UAE and the Ruler of Dubai His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the UAE Cabinet on Sunday has approved the new designs for Emirati passports and national identity cards.

The new design will have more cybersecurity and smart digital features.

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid announced the changes on his official Twitter handle.

The existing passports and ID cards will be replaced gradually.

During the meeting of the Cabinet, they also approved the creation of a cyber security council to prepare policies that would ensure the implementation of a robust online security in the UAE.

A national media team will also be formed “to share their vision for the development of the Emirati media,” the Vice President said.
