Rescue teams in PH saved the lives of 53 dogs, of which four were pregnant, along with 17 cats who were abandoned by their owners following the aftermath of super typhoon Rolly.
Teams from the Animal Kingdom Foundation and San Miguel Corporation headed to the deserted island community of Taliptip in Bulacan and reported that some of the puppies were ‘really in bad shape’ when teams found them.

“If you see them on the island alone and hungry, of course, you will feel heartbroken,” said Heidi Caguioa, Program Director at the Animal Kingdom Foundation in an interview with CNN Philippines’ New Day.
The Animal Kingdom Foundation’s program director shared that the rescued animals are now at their temporary shelter at Capas, Tarlac where the all animals will be nursed and cared for until the time that they’re ready to find new homes.

“We are doing some medical or veterinary care rehabilitation plan to make sure they get back to good health because we are preparing for their re-homing in the future,” said Caguioa who estimated a minimum of six months before these animals could be up for adoption.
