The South Korean government has announced that it secured enough vaccine supply for 90% of its total population.

This means that around 44 million people will be vaccinated with Britain’s AstraZeneca.

South Korea originally planned to buy vaccines for about 30 million people but decided to increase the amount because of the effectiveness reported by vaccine manufacturers.

The elderly people, those with chronic diseases and those providing medical care, will have priority in receiving vaccines.

The government said that vaccination will be rolled out at the latter part of 2021.

South Korea has allotted 1.3 trillion won or $1.2 million for coronavirus vaccines.
