A public relation (PR) officer stands trial in Dubai Criminal Court after being accused of embezzling AED44,6000 from a public institution.
The funds was supposed to be used for visa renewal of a number of staff.
Counselor Salem Ahmed Bin Khadem, Senior Chief Prosecutor at Public Funds Prosecution, initiated the investigation into the case.
The company said the suspect was given AED44,671 in installments by the company’s finance department, but he embezzled the huge sum of money. He did not presented any receipt of expenses he paid.
Later on, the accused reportedly admitted that he used the money for personal use. He vowed to pay the company back but failed to do so.
Authorities said that the accused had caused financial damage to the company
