The policeman who went viral on social media for shooting an elderly mother and her son in Paniqui, Tarlac has surrendered to authorities.
Authorities identified the suspect as Police Senior Master Sergeant Jonel Nuezca, assigned at the Parañaque City Police Crime Laboratory, who shot Sonya Gregorio (52) and Frank Anthony Gregorio (25) after a heated conversation last December 20, Sunday around 5:10 pm.

The suspect reportedly fled the crime scene on a motorbike – but a CCTV video of the incident made rounds on social media on the same day, prompting officials to launch a hot pursuit operation.
Around 6:19 pm of the same day, the suspect had surrendered at the Rosales Municipal Police Station (MPS) in Pangasinan with the gun against his two neighbors as seen in the viral video. Officers from the Paniqui police headed to the Rosales MPS to transfer Nuezca to their station.
Initial investigations reveal that Nuezca got into a confrontation against the elderly mother and her child due to the firing of a ‘boga’ or a noisemaker made out of either bamboos or PVC pipes commonly used for New Year’s Eve celebrations.

“Bago ‘yung pamamaril, nag-ugat ito sa pagpapaputok ng boga malapit po sa place ng bahay ng mga biktima kasi itong suspect po at mga biktima ay magkapit-bahay lamang. So itong suspect natin ay pumunta doon sa bahay ng biktima para sitahin ‘yung nagpapaputok then nadatnan niya doon ‘yung isang biktima at nagkasagutan sila, ‘yung lalaki,” said Lt. Col. Noriel Rombaoa, chief of Paniqui MPS in an interview with ABS-CBN’s Teleradyo on Monday.
Rombaoa also revealed that Nuezca and the Gregorios had a dispute over right of way, stating that the house of the two victims is located behind the house of the suspect.
Nuezca faces charges of double murder.
