This is one of the benefits of vaccination that Dr. Nawal Al Kaabo, chairperson of the National COVID-19 Clinical Management Committee, said adding that it will not only protect one person but as well as other people.

“So, we will not only protect ourselves, but our families and the community,” he said in an interview with Khaleej Times.

Another advantage, he mentioned, is that vaccination is a way so people could go back to normal lives like travelling and it will also help the economy to also go back to normal.

Dr. Nawal, the principal investigator of the Phase III Clinical Trial for a COVID-19 vaccine in the UAE, emphasized that those who are vaccinated are also free to travel to certain areas without the need to quarantine. This is the decision of the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi and the Ministry of Health and Prevention.

They will be included in the ‘green’ list and once they come back, they will no longer be required to undergo quarantine. However, they are still required to do a PCR- test.

The countries listed under the ‘green’ list includes Qatar, Kuwait, Oman and Saudi Arabia.

Dr. Walid Zaher, chief research officer and vaccine project leader of G42 Healthcare, encouraged more people to get vaccinated and emphasized that the higher the number of people getting vaccinated, the higher the rate that people could soon go back to their normal lives. (ES)
