Flights from the UAE towards Oman, Kuwait, and Saudi Arabia have been suspended after the three gulf countries closed their borders.

An official announcement from Emirates states that flights to and from Kuwait and Oman will be suspended for a week, from December 22 until 28.

The airline earlier announced that they have suspended flights to and from Saudi Arabia for one week until December 27.

“Customers connecting on flights bound for these destinations will not be accepted at origin. We regret any inconvenience caused. Affected customers should contact their travel agent or Emirates contact centre for rebooking options,” advised Emirates on their official announcement.

Recent flight suspensions and border closures have been linked to a new coronavirus strain traced to the United Kingdom, with UK’s health experts warning residents that the virus has gone ‘out of control’, leading the country to enforce lockdowns and quarantine measures ahead of Christmas celebrations.
