San Miguel corporation has announced its plan to take over the country’s premier gateway the Ninoy Aquino International Airport or NAIA.

This is on top of the conglomerate’s 740 billion airport project in Bulacan.

“Yes, NAIA… to operate and maintain only,” Ang said in a text message to reporters.

The bid comes after the Manila International Airport Authority backed out from its deal with Megawide Construction to rehabilitate NAIA.

The company presented its new airport design to the public, inspired by the Banaue Rice Terraces.

Ang’s New Manila International Airport in Bulacan will start construction on the first quarter of 2021.

The new airport was previously designed to accommodate100 million passengers a year, but can be expanded to 200 million.

It is also planning to accommodate 240 aircraft movements per hour. It will be connected to the North Luzon Expressway through an 8.4-kilometer tollway to be constructed as part of the project. (TDT)
