Filipinos in the UAE who wish to travel to the Holy Land will soon be allowed to fly directly towards Israel with a visa on arrival (VOA) status once they enter the country.

Israel’s Tourism Minister Orit Farkash Hacohen said that while Israel remains closed for tourists due to COVID-19 restrictions, she has affirmed that the country has begun steps to reopen their borders, including a mass vaccination program in the country for COVID-19.

“Israel is still closed for tourists except business groups and visitors, that have the invitation from Israeli side. Israel is starting the vaccination of its citizens from 20 of December, so we hope, that very soon we will open our borders for tourists and will welcome UAE citizens and residents. For Filipinos, it’s VOA but once Israel is open,” said Hacohen in a press statement to The Filipino Times.

Minister Hacohen shared that Filipinos can visit a variety of tourist spots in the Holy Land that include unique experiences such as the Dead Sea as well as shopping destinations in Tel Aviv.

“It depends on the interest of the people but we recommend Dead sea – to float on the water – a very special experience. We also recommend Eilat to enjoy an Israel resort town, and the city of Tel Aviv for the fun, shopping, dining and more,” said Hacohen.
