One person had died and around 400 individuals were hospitalized in Southern India for an unidentified infection, causing seizures and nausea. The disease however is not related to the coronavirus disease.

In a report on Reuters, government and medical authorities in the southern state of Andhra Pradesh said that more than 200 people were discharged at the weekend.

The results however showed that there is no link to the novel coronavirus that caused a global pandemic. Further serological tests are ongoing.

The outbreak remains to be unknown, and the government said that all ages may be a probe for infection.

A team of three medical experts will investigate the outbreak which has infected more than 300 children.

“The children reportedly suffered from dizziness, fainting spells, headache and vomiting,” the ministry said.

“We have taken the patients’ blood samples for serological investigation and bacterial investigation to rule out any type of meningitis,” Prasadini told Reuters.

Authorities were investigating water supplies in different locations where the outbreak was recorded. (TDT)
