A gang of young men who were accused of raping a girl, taking a video of the act and uploading it on social media has been arrested by Abu Dhabi Police.

The arrest came following an urgent report submitted by the Public Prosecutions’s Federal Investigation Office.

The gang members have been taken into custody for “extensive investigations under the direct supervision of the Public Prosecutor,” according to UAE Attorney-General Hamad Saif Al Shamsi.

Al Shamsi slammed the horrendous act saying the incident has “a degree of depravity that is not acceptable in UAE society.”

He assured the public that authorities will stand decisively against those who violate the morals and social values of Emirati society and disturb public safety.
