President Rodrigo Duterte has condemned the killing of a mother and son in Tarlac by a police officer on Sunday.

The suspect identified as 46-year old, Police Senior Master Sergeant Jonel Nuezca shot Sonya Gregorio, 52, and her son Frank, 25, after a heated confrontation.

“Unahin ko lang yung sa pulis, baka hindi ninyo nakuha. I don’t think, isa lang klase itong pulis na ito. May sakit ito sa utak… I was wondering why he was able makalusot sa neuro,” Duterte said in a speech on Monday night.

The President also reiterated that he is ready to defend the police but only if they will adhere to the law.

“Kayong mga pulis, mahal ko kayo kasi nagtatrabaho kayo…Pero kayong mga may sakit at topak, I’m sure that by now, he is not allowed to go out kasi double murder ‘yun,” Duterte added.

Duterte said that even he was caught by surprise upon seeing the video of Nuezca killing the mother and son.

“That’s unfair and brutal masyado… I do not like oppression at ‘yang nag-ano ng tao, papahirapan niyo ang tao. Usually kasi itong pulis you tend to exhibit your authority even in matters not connected with police work,” he added. (TDT)
