A Hungarian diver was deported from Thailand after he allegedly disturbed the marine animals off Koh Pha-ngan in Surat Thani province in August, Asia News Network reported.
Attila Ott and his Dutch-Italian diving buddy Francesco Simonetti were charged on September 1 after posting pictures and video of themselves poking and tickling sea creatures in the said protected area. The two were fined, but only Ott was the one reported. Simonetti appealed to stay on in the country.
Ott is a diving instructor and owner of the island’s Pink Panther Scuba Dive Club, while Simonetti worked at a restaurant. The latter has since posted and is awaiting the result of his appeal to stay.
