United States President-elect Joe Biden took his shot of the coronavirus vaccine on live television to boost the public confidence in the US vaccination program.

“Today, I received the COVID-19 vaccine. To the scientists and researchers who worked tirelessly to make this possible — thank you. We owe you an awful lot,” Biden said in a tweet.

Biden assured Americans that fighting the COVID-19 crisis will be his top priority when he assumed office which killed more than 315,000 Americans and infected more than 17.5 million.

The US president-elect is already 78 years old and among the age group more vulnerable to the disease.

Biden received the vaccine injection from Tabe Mase, nurse practitioner and head of Employee Health Services at Christiana Hospital in Newark, Delaware, in front of reporters.

“And to the American people — know there is nothing to worry about. When the vaccine is available, I urge you to take it,” Biden also said. (TDT)
