The Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (PHIVOLCS) recorded a 6.2 magntitude earthquake that struct Sarangani on December 16, Wednesday at around 7:22 am (3:22am UAE time).

Intensity V was felt at General Santos City, while Intenstiy IV was felt at nearby areas including Kiamba, Sarangani; Tupi and Koronadal City, South Cotabato. Intensity III was felt at Alabel, Sarangani; Kidapawan City.

Intensity II was felt at Columbio, Sultan Kudarat; Tacurong City, Sultan Kudarat; Magpet, North Cotabato, while Zamboanga City experienced Intensity I of the quake.

Authorities earlier logged the quake at a 6.1 magnitude.

PHIVOLCS warns that there are expected aftershocks and damages after the quake.
