The Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) has given Php200,000 worth of aid to the Filipina domestic helper who was allegedly abused by Philippine Ambassador to Brazil Marichu Mauro.

Foreign Affairs Secretary Teddyboy Locsin Jr. said that the cash assistance has no conditions, and they hope that this could help the Filipina worker to ‘tide over’ after her traumatic experience at the hands of the Ambassador.

“I am reaching out to her with financial help right now as an OFW, without any conditions because we are DFA not animals; we help the helpless period, no exchange; helping is its own exchange. It is our job to help,” Locsin said.

Locsin added that the DFA has started the investigation on the ambassador following the approval from President Rodrigo Duterte.

A fact-finding team has been formed to look into the liabilities of Mauro and for the DFA to recommend necessary charges against her.

Mauro is set to return home on or before November 2 based on the President’s recall order.

The DFA has issued a show cause order to Mauro for her to explain the video showing her assaulting Mauro.
