Kamala Harris addressed their supporters after making history as the first woman and person of color to be elected as United States Vice President.

Harris represented a new face of political power in a tightly contested race encouraging women to vote in this year’s presidential elections.

“We did it, we did it, Joe. You’re going to be the next president of the United States,” Harris tweeted showing her calling Biden after they were projected as the winner of the elections.

“To our campaign staff and volunteers, thank you for bringing more people than ever before into the democratic process. To all the poll workers and election officials, our nation owes you a debt of gratitude. And to the American people: thank you for making your voices heard,” she said at the opening of her speech.

Harris also said that despite making history as the first woman Vice President, she said that she will not be the last.

“While I may be the first woman in this office, I will not be the last—because every little girl watching tonight sees that this is a country of possibilities,” she said.

“The road ahead is difficult but one thing is for sure, America is ready,” Harris said.
