A woman has to undergo eight operations in Dubai after she was blinded and her face disfigured following an acid attack.
Heba Hosni, 38, shared in an article by The National, that it took here 10 years to recover from what her former partner did to her after they broke up.
The acid attack on the Egyptian woman happened at 9:30a.m. on May 29, 2008. It melted her eyelids, nose and upper lip, and caused serious burns to her arms.
Since it happened, Hosni said people tend to look away.
Hosni’s story of domestic abuse prompted a benefactor from Saudi Arabia to step in and promised to pay for surgery in Dubai.
Hosni’s surgery included reconstructive techniques. There was also a nose constructed on her forearm.
Now she can wash her face once more and feel the soft tissue of her nose and mouth.
The cost of such a complex series of procedures, according to the report, could cost Dhs350,000.
The eight significant surgeries were done between four and 10 hours duration.
Although she suffered a lot from it, Hosni is slowly restoring her trust in others thanks to the kindness shown by the mystery benefactor and the healthcare professionals in Dubai. (ES)
