Ang mga taong nakapagpaturok na ng bakuna laban sa COVID-19 ay hindi agad-agad ligtas laban sa naturang virus.

Ayon kay Dr. Farida Al Hosani, official spokesperson ng health sector dito sa UAE, ay nangangailangan ang katawan ng isang tao ng hanggang dalawang linggo matapos ang pangalawang turok ng bakuna para magkaroon ng sapat na proteksyon laban sa coronavirus.

Dagdag pa niya, mas lalo pang tatatag ang resistensya ng katawan laban sa COVID-19 sa paglipas ng mga linggo.

“The body requires some time to build sufficient immunity. Usually, it takes the body about two weeks after receiving the second dose – and it continues to increase in the weeks thereafter,” ani Dr. Al Hosani.

Pinapayuhan naman ng World Health Organization o WHO na magpatuloy sa pagsunod sa health guidelines tulad ng pagsusuot ng mask, madalas na paghuhugas ng kamay, at social distancing ang mga taong nakapagpabakuna na.

Ito ay dahil bagaman protektado ang taong nakapagpabakuna, hindi pa lubusang napapag-aralan kung naiiwasan din ba ang transmission ng COVID-19 o pagsasalin ng naturang virus sa ibang tao.

“We’re still learning about what the vaccines can do, can they protect against getting infected and transmitting to someone else. And so for how long we need to continue these precautions is really going to depend on what communities and countries can do to really crush this virus to crush the transmission. And in that way the vaccines can do their best job at preventing disease,” paliwanag ni Dr. Katherine O’Brien, WHO Director of the Department of Immunization, Vaccines, and Biologicals.
