President Rodrigo Duterte reiterated his stand that his daughter and Davao City Mayor Sara Duterte will not run in the 2022 national polls.

Duterte said Sara shares his view that one would become president if God wills it and it does not need to happen soon.

“Sara does not want to run because she has three children. They are still small. She wants to focus on her family affairs,” the President said in a speech on Sunday.

During his conversation with her daughter, Duterte said that Sara even said one of his favorite statements: “Kung gusto ng Diyos maging presidente rin ako kagaya sa iyo, magiging presidente ako. Hindi kailangan ngayon,” he added.

The President said that if Sara runs and she wins her options will be limited after her term.

“The presidency is a gift from God… She does not want it now and she said, just assuming, after six years, she is still young. What can she do?” Duterte said.

“As an ex-president, she cannot work anymore, she cannot appear in court. She already became president,” he added.

The President said that the salary of a president is not lucrative as well.

“If you do not have an ambition, just remain in your work,” he added. (TDT)
