Kuwait has announced that it will be extending its ongoing entry ban for expats as part of the preventive measures against the coronavirus disease (COVID-19).

The measure will be in place until further notice, according to the state’s civil aviation authority.

The entry ban exempts medical personnel from both the public and private sectors. It also exempts members of diplomatic corps together with their immediate relatives and domestic workers as per the Kuwaiti News Agency (KUNA).

Only citizens will be allowed entry to the country. Each citizen headed back to Kuwait will be spending one week in quarantine at a hotel, and will have to spend another week at their home.

All passengers on incoming flights to Kuwait should first register through the government travel platform kuwaitmosafer.gov.kw.

Latest COVID-19 statistics show that Kuwait had 862 new cases, 934 recoveries and five deaths in the past 24 hours.
