The Philippines has signed a deal to secure 25 million of COVID-10 doses from Chinese drug maker Sinovac.
The announcement was made by Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, as the country waits for any vaccine supply to arrive in the country.
“Darating na ang bakuna sa Pilipinas sa susunod na buwan,” Roque said in a statement.
But Roque said that Filipinos should not celebrate first since the first supply will be around 50,000.
“Huwag naman kayong masyadong mag-celebrate d’yan dahil ang unang dadating po ay 50,000 doses lamang ng vaccine galing sa Sinovac. But at least, magsisimula na rin tayo,” he told reporters.
Roque said that Sinovac will send the rest of vaccine doses later this year.
“Ibig sabihin, by February, at least 65,000 na ang mabibigyan ng bakuna,” Roque said that 50,000 will arrive while 15,0000 will be for clinical trials.
Sinovac has yet to get an Emergency Use Authorization from the Food and Drug Administration. (TDT)
