Vaccine Czar Carlito Galvez told senators that the government is eyeing to vaccinate 2 million Filipinos in April.
During a Senate hearing on the government’s vaccination program, Galvez said 50,000 doses of a COVID-19 vaccine is expected to arrive in the country in February.
An additional 950,000 will arrive in March and another one million doses by April.
“Sa April po, ang mababakunahan ay more or less almost two million,” Galvez said.
Galvez did not disclose the name of the vaccine, but most likely it will be from Pfizer and Sinovac.
The government will prioritize to vaccinate residents of Metro Manila, Cebu City, and Davao City where rates of coronavirus cases are high.
The Philippines has so far secured 30 million doses of COVID-19 vaccines from various manufacturers. (TDT)
