A Filipino was among two gas station employees who were injured after a speeding car crashed in a petroleum station in Al Ittihad Road in Sharjah on October 13.
The driver of the car is now in police custody, according to Major General Saif Al Zari Al Shamsi, Commander-in-Chief of the Sharjah Police.
Aside from the Filipino employee, an Indian national also sustained injury in the incident. They were brought to Al Qassimi hospital for treatment.
CCTV footage from the petrol station was shared online. It shows that the speeding car suddenly veered off the road and crashed into the petrol pump, causing damages to a fuel dispenser machine. The fuel inside the pumps did not ignite.
The employees tried to avoid the speeding car but were still hit by the vehicle.
The driver has been referred to the Public Prosecution for legal action.
