A couple in Singapore who alleged dumped their newborn baby in a garbage bin announced their engagement on October 24, Asia One reported.

The 25-year-old woman was said to have delivered a baby girl on February 26 while on a vacation with her boyfriend in Taipei. They were suspected of dumping their child when a recycling company worker discovered the infant’s body in a food recycling bin along with the umbilical cord and placenta.

Investigations showed that the blood samples taken from the bathroom of the couple’s hotel room and the DNA of the baby were a match. Surveillance footage also showed the man throwing a garbage bag at 3 AM, which reportedly contained the infant. The two flew back to Singapore later that day.

Following the discovery of the child, the man denied that his girlfriend was pregnant, and that she gave birth in Taiwan.
