The Ministry of Economy in the UAE has announced the closure of all its customer service centers as part of the government’s transition towards digital services for the public.
“The Ministry of Economy announces the closure of all customer happiness centers in line with the directives of the wise leadership in digitizing government services and achieving efficiency,” said the ministry in its announcement on social media.
This move is part of the plans of the UAE’s Ministerial Development Council (MDC) to reduce 50% of federal government service centers and shift these services to digital platforms in the next two years.
“The Ministry (of Economy) is at the forefront of the federal entities that contribute to achieving this vision by providing digital channels that enable the public to obtain services with ease and convenience,” added the ministry.
Out of 282 service centers, 59 will be closed during the first three months of 2021. The other remaining services centers will be closed anytime from 2021 to 2022.
