Individuals who experience abuse from their employers are reminded to report their experience to the authorities for proper action.
The UAE Public Prosecution warned those found guilty for such abuse will face a maximum fine of AED 5,000 and up to six months in jail, according to Article 9, Clause 1 of the Federal Decree No. 10 of 2019 regarding domestic violence.
The UAE’s Family Protection Policy was launched in 2019, in the country’s efforts to reinforce social bonds among families and workers in the UAE.

Under this policy, any threats and/or abuse committed by a family member against a fellow family member or individual exceeding his guardianship, jurisdiction, authority or responsibility that results to physical and/or psychological harm, will face the law.
This policy outlines six forms of domestic violence which include: physical abuse, verbal abuse, sexual abuse, psychological/mental abuse, financial abuse, and negligence.
In addition, the law also includes coverage for acts of domestic violence according to Article 5, without prejudice to any more severe punishment stipulated in another law.
