Tech giant Twitter has suspended the account of United States President Donald Trump for 12 hours and warns that he can be permanently suspended for his baseless election fraud claims and igniting a mass riot at the US Capitol.

This is also the first time that Twitter deleted three of Trump’s tweets.

“As a result of the unprecedented and ongoing violent situation in Washington, D.C., we have required the removal of three @realdonaldtrymp tweets that were posted earlier today for repeated and severe violations of our Civic Integrity policy,” Twitter said in a statement.

“This means that the account of @realDonaldTrump will be locked for 12 hours following the removal of these Tweets. If the Tweets are not removed, the account will remain locked,” he added.

Twitter warns that Trump’s account will be permanently suspended if he will continue to commit violations.

“Future violations of the Twitter Rules, including our Civic Integrity or Violent Threats policies, will result in permanent suspension of the @realDonaldTrump account,” Twitter added.

One woman was shot and killed inside the Capitol building in the chaos.

Facebook also took down Trump’s video, who continues to claim that there was election-related fraud.

Facebook’s vice president of integrity Guy Rosen on the other hand tweeted the social media company believed the president’s video “contributes to rather than diminishes the risk of ongoing violence,” saying the action was part of “appropriate emergency measures.”
