Vaccine czar Carlito Galvez lamented accusations that the government’s vaccine deals are tainted by corruption.

In a tweet on Sunday, Senator Ping Lacson said that Sinovac vaccine deals could be filled with corruption, as officials refuse to be more transparent on the deal.

“The difference in prices of Sinovac vaccine at US$5, US$14 and US$38 reminds me of an old story about how corruption is committed in three Southeast Asian countries – UNDER the table, ON the table, and INCLUDING the table,” Lacson said.

Galvez slammed the comments saying they are honest and that the government is bounded by confidentiality agreements by the vaccine manufacturers.

“Sa atin po, gusto ko lang pong ipaalala sa ating mga mahal na mamamayan, marami pong mababait at saka very honest dito sa government service po natin. Huwag po nating anuhin na pag galing ka sa gobyerno corrupt po ang mga tao. Minsan nakakasakit po ng damdamin,” Galvez said in an interview.

Galvez said that they will let the public know about the status of the deals once they were finalized.

“Katulad ng sinasabi ng mahal na Presidente na talagang rest assured the public will know that the government that we have is not corrupt,” he added.

Galvez assured that all government’s dealings are “fair and square.”

The government has repeatedly refused to disclose the amount of Sinovac vaccines citing confidentiality agreement.

Presidential Spokesperson Harry Roque, however, on Sunday gave a hint that the price is not more than Indonesia’s Php650 per dose.

Galvez neither confirmed nor deny the price, but he affirmed that the circulating price of Sinovac ammounting to over P3,600 is fake news.
