The Abu Dhabi Emergency, Crisis and Disasters Committee announced the extension of distance learning for schools in Abu Dhabi for another three weeks.
Extended e-learning will begin today, Sunday, January 17 for all academic levels, “as precautionary measures to limit the spread of the virus and safeguard the health and safety of the schooling community.”
The Committee urged parents, guardians and academic and administrative staff in all schools to vaccinate against COVID-19,” to protect themselves against the virus and help develop comprehensive protection for the wider community, which will accelerate the safe return to schools.”
Distance learning in UAE schools began on March 22, 2020.
They were set to return to campuses on today, January 17, but the Ministry of Education (MoE) sent advisory to schools and parents that UAE public school students in Grades 9 to 12 shall continue with the remote learning system.
The decision came up in order to prevent the spread of COVID-19 amid the recent spike in new cases recorded since January 1, 2021. (ES)
