A magnitude 7.1 earthquake hits waters off Jose Abad Santos, Davao Occidental at 8:23 p.m. according to the Philippine Institute of Volcanology and Seismology (Phivolcs).

Intensity 5 and Intensity 4 were felt in General Santos and Davao City.

Phivolcs classifies Intensity 5 as a strong quake.
