The Philippines has recorded the lowest number of COVID-19 cases on a daily basis with 134 new infections on Thursday.

This brings the nationwide caseload to 3,683,865 while the active case count has decreased to 16,771.

The number of patients who recovered from the virus has reached 3,607,038, while the death toll rose to 60,056.

The National Capital Region still leads with the most number of COVID-19 cases with 1,072 followed by Region 4-A with 429 and Central Luzon with 301.

Six cities and one municipality in Metro Manila are showing an increase in new COVID-19 cases according to the Department of Health.

Local government units that registered positive growth rate from April 12 to April 18 were Pateros (100 percent), Navotas (80 percent), Las Piñas (27.3 percent), Parañaque (16.4 percent), Taguig (7.5 percent), Muntinlupa (14.3 percent) and Marikina (10 percent).

The DOH also gave the list of active infection in the following areas: 18 in Pateros, 74 in Navotas, 275 in Las Piñas, 413 in Parañaque, 365 in Taguig, 196 in Muntinlupa and 271 in Marikina.

The records an average of 365 cases a day with an overall total of 3,683,732.

The DOH has warned of the possibility of another COVID-19 surge in May if people will continue to disregard the existing minimum health standards.
